The African Women in Law Legacy project is a digital archive of the oral legal narratives of iconic African women in law. In this series, we present Justice Mary Mamyassin Sey, a Supreme Court Justice and the first woman judge in The Gambia. A distinguished jurist, whose judicial service spans The Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Vanuatu. A judge who stood up to her judicial oath even in times when it posed a threat to her life.
